I've only had this grill for 4 days now, and it has yet to get a day of rest. I want to thank you for making such a quality piece of equipment. I have joked over the last year that if i get one more piece of outdoor cooking equipment that my wife would shoot me. Well, this holiday season might have just as well been hunting season, but happily wife has not shot me yet.

My wife bought me a pressure smoker to use for some indoor projects for Christmas. I have yet to get to try it out. I was out of town visiting my mother in Wyoming and while there decided to finally pull the trigger and get some type of grill to have at her house for me to use while on vacations. I have been wishing for years to get something simple to keep there to get my fix for good food while out of town. I have been looking at pellet grills for years, and while having a Yoder there would be great, I could not justify it for the few times a year it would get used. I got a great deal and purchased a little Traeger and after using it for a week and seeing how well it performed for how simply it was made, my mind was made up that I wanted something great for home. So, only a week after buying the Traeger I turned around and purchased the YS640 on the competition cart for home.

I mention the Traeger here because I wanted to compare a couple of things. One, Traeger in my neck of the woods has really done a great job of advertising, and everyone around me seems to have got one in the past year. I have been tempted as well, but as I already have so many smokers and grills had yet to succumb. There are so many stores here that carry them that they are in your face every time you turn around. From my two butcher shops that sell them to my favorite kitchen store. Even the grocery stores have them outside being used by food vendors. I'm so glad I was not seduced! I read and have really been quietly watching all the comments and reviews of grills, and Yoder kept coming up as the favorite of so many people. The one thing that held me back was how much more they cost than the Traeger. I am one that is always willing to pay for quality however, and in the end after buying the traeger and seeing how just "good enough" it truly is decided that my new grill for home would not be just "good enough".

I went all out and bought the best. My wife agrees, this Yoder is amazing. We are both so happy with it. So far we have done, Chicken, Salmon, and Baby Backs. I have a long waiting list of food i'm dying to cook on it.

As for my history, I have been smoking for nearly 20 years now. I started with a New Braunsfels offset and worked my way up to two electric Smoking Tex 1400 (now 9 years old). During that time I added a Jenn-Air 4 burner grill as well as a Komado Joe.
I also have a little smoke chief I've used for cold smoking in the winter.

So now in the end I now have 4 electrics, 2 stick burners and 2 pellets. This gives me a total of 8 smokers and 1 gas grill (plus various turkey deep fryers). Add my dutch ovens and my Chinese stove and I have a pretty decent arsenal of outdoor cooking equipment

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for joining the group! Glad you are enjoying the Yoder. Sounds like you will have plenty of people to convert nearby once they venture out when the weather gets nice.
