grease shield on yoder 640

I purchased the front grease shield for my new yoder 640. After installing it and cooking with it, I've noticed the door on the smoker does not close all the way with the grease shield hanging on the front. Should I be concerned? The yoder lid sits open approximately 1/8" open along the bottom and lower sides when I close it to cook. Thanks in advance.

I have the shield on my 640 as well. I noticed a little smoke rolling out at low temps so I bought the gasket seal. It works well....not sure it was necessary but, I did it anyway when I replaced the hinges to SS.

I discovered that the lastest models( mine has a 02/22/2021 MFG. date) have a 3/4" diversion lip built into it to prevent drippings from running down the front of the unit

This may be true, but you still will be slopping sauce etc. from regular cooks.
I went ahead and bought one because of the practical sense and ease of cleaning
My 640 is a tool
