The baffle in my YS640 jams and can’t be adjusted without taking the grates and diffuser out and getting the guides back in line. Are the guides supposed to be fixed in place or are they just loose?

The slide damper is loosely located between the right divider plate and two "L" shape plates welded to the bottom of the chamber on the left side.

I see that, but there is nothing to keep it in place. I literally have to take the grates and bottom plate out to unjam it and move the damper. I’m tempted to just get it located and take the nut off of the handle and leave it in that position. Unless the guide is fixed in position, I don’t see a fix.

We would like to see what you are experiencing. Can you send us a picture of the slide damper in position to customerservice@yodersmokers.com? Please mention our communication here. Thanks!

I have had this same problem for years. I can slide it out but cannot get it back in without taking out the grates.
