MyYS1500 arrived and finally got it off the crate with the help of a friend. This thing feels like a tank. Spent most of the day setting it up and cleaning. Cleaned the grates then did the first burn-in at 350 for just over an hour, Then I let it cool for a few hours, pulled out everything and shop vac the interior, wiped down everything then gave it all a nice coating of spray canola oil. Have a couple of whole chickens sitting in brine overnight as well as some summer sausages, so tomorrow will be the first cook,

I have been backyard smoking for many years first using a Louisiana grill pellet smoker then the last few years I had two Traeger. Got tired of the crazy temp swings and staying up most of the night during longer brisker or butt smokes due to loosing my fire or getting alerted by my maverick that temps were crazy low or high, So back in November I began searching for something more reliable. I believed I looked at every major make of smoker and finally decided on the Yoder, I often cook for my office and often used both Traegers at the same time to get everything I needed cooked so the 640 was going to be tight for me thus my reason for going with the 1500. I smoke at home and bring the food into the office for group meetings and training seminars so transporting it was not going to be needed.

My first impression watching the temps during the hour plus burn off is this this is a quality product. With the stack open about 55-60%, my temps were very even from left to right and my top rack seems to run about 25 degrees cooled than the bottom which is expected. The best thing was that after the smoker got past the normal startup temp adjustments about 35 minutes from startup, the temps all got extremely consistent. Looking forward to many years of cooking on the 1500. From what I am seeing thus far, I will actually get to sleep all night during longer smokes. Also picked up a FireBoard with 6 probes and this is a great compliment to thr Yoder. Accurate and easy to program and monitor via WiFi with the fireboard app.

Thanks
