Hey All,
Simple question (s) you all can answer amd give me ideas and suggestions.
Grilling hamburgers on a Yoder YS480, give me simple instructions.
I know about the patty and seasoning. What I want to know is what temperature, how long (different ranges for meat doness) AND... direct heat-no deflector-grill grates? If so, how long and what temp.
If not direct heat, what temp amd how long.
Oh well, throw in a few rubs and seanonings you use..but don't forget the cooking temp and time.
Thanks!!!!
I use the grill grates, with the heat diffuser plate in the cooker. I set the cooker temperature at 350 degrees. If you set the temperature above 400 degrees, you need to remove the heat diffuser plate.
Time is a variable that only you will be able to determine, as the meat, thickness and desired doneness are all personal preferences and will not be the same from person to person.
For the type of meat, thickness and doneness we like, it takes between 5 and 6 minutes a side.
Experiment and come up with what you like.

On the YS640, I've done several burgers without GrillGrates in and cooked at 400* with the deflector in. They always came out good. However they were better when cooked with GrillGrates over a direct fire. But you can cook them however you like.
All I typically use is kosher salt, fresh ground black pepper and maybe some onion or garlic powder.
Hey guys,
I recently cooked burgers on my 640. I set the temp at 500 degrees without the diffuser plate. Used grill grates with simple kosher salt and pepper. Great sear marks, cooked perfectly. Can't ask for much more than that.
I posted this on a different thread but this looks like a perfect spot for it also. What about drip pans suggestions?
