I have a YS480 that when I start up fires up as usual with temp set at 350 but immediately goes into cool down like it has exceeded the set temp. Temp readout jumps all over the place some times. I thinking the thermocouple is probably going out but just thought I’d check if that sounds right. Thanks in advance for any info.

Unfortunately, this is a sign of a bad thermocouple and will need replaced.

Thanks that’s what I thought. Just curious, I have the long thermocouple located on back wall, is there any advantage to replacing with the new short thermocouple mounted on side wall? I have a spare long thermocouple but always keep a spare so if there is some advantage to the short thermocouple I’ll order one of those. Thanks
