I have had my Yoder Smoker Y640 on a competition Cart since October 2018. This spring I tried to BBQ on it. I started it up and when it was running, I set the temperature up to over 500°F. It suddenly shut off and would not start. Eventually, I found that the fuse blew and replaced it. Smoking meats went fine all summer.

Today, I tried to BBQ Chicken at 400°F. Started the Yoder and set the temperature to 400°F. After 2 minutes, the fuse blew again. I replaced it and tried again. Same thing: fuse blows. The Y640 never even reached the set temperature before the fuse blows.

How can I fix the problem? I got the Yoder because I also want to BBQ at higher heats on it.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Daniel

Sorry to hear this. What you are experiencing is a bad igniter and will need replaced. You may disconnect the igniter and manually light the pellets until a new igniter is installed. Refer to page 22 in the YS640 manual to light the pellets manually: download/Manuals/Pellet%20Manuals/Booklet_OpManual_YS640_v8.4_JULY2016_WEB.PDF

Thank you, Yoder_Joey!

I am a little baffled that the igniter is no problem when the temperature is set under 400°F. The fuse only blows when setting the temperature >400°F. What might cause this?

Best regards,

Daniel
