When I turn up the Yoder to higher temps 500-600 degrees, the pellets in the auger and into the hopper are stating to light. Any insight would be appreciated.

Always wondered why folks use a smoker for 500+ degrees.

Just a thought that might help.

Yoder Page:; So, when you need 700°F to properly sear a steak, you’ve got it — likewise when you need 250°F for a 12-hour smoke, you’ve got that too.

How do you turn off your smoker when done cooking?

I have used my 640 for over 7+ years, I have smoked a lot, used the smoker as a searing device to finish off rib roasts, cook steaks etc. Never ever have I had a pellet auger fire. I do have the diffuser plate with the opening, I do have a updated burn grate (upgraded 3 years ago).

So I can't see how you get a auger fire unless you are doing something wrong..

I also have a great charcoal grill for steaks etc. I know I can hit 700+ on it, but the Yoder says 500-600...?

Wow, wonder if both fans are working? What does Yoder say?
