Is my firebox properly sealed?

Just received my brand new YS640s today. Literally has never been used.

By looking at the manual, it says to make sure the area above the firebox is sealed at the hopper wall.

But when looking at mine, I don’t see any sealant here at all. Was something missed when it was built? Is this an issue?

I already have an email out to customer service, but I figured it may be worth posting here as well.

I am not familiar with the newer version of the firebox but either way I would hunt down some permatex. I used the copper variety and has worked well for over two years.

That area has silicone applied between the firepot and chamber wall. Some silicone may be visible and is jus the excess amount that was used. You may choose to apply silicone along the top edge but is not required.
