I ordered the new orange caster upgrades for my 1 year old YS 640 and am trying to install them. There are no instructions. I have raised the right side of the smoker and blocked it up so that the existing casters are off the ground. I used a 9/16 socket wrench to remove the nuts on top of the existing casters. Now what? The existing casters are still firmly locked in place. I cannot see anything holding them (but it is very difficult to see the top of the casters) and tried hitting with a rubber mallet. How do I remove the old casters? Is there a trick to installing the new ones? Are there instructions somewhere? Thanks.

Were you trying to post a link? If so, it doesn’t work.

Thanks, but I had already found that download searching. These appear to be instructions for an earlier upgrade, both front and back wheels, not the new orange casters. These instructions do not explain how to remove the old casters other than to unscrew the nut on top. Which did not work.

Did you follow step 7? Unscrew caster wheel from plate?

I was finally able to install the new casters. As I suspected, this download (http://community.yodersmokers.com/download/Install%20and%20Repair/WheelKitUpgradeProcedure_v2.pdf) was for installing a 2nd generation caster. The orange wheels are a 3rd generation. The old download was useful as the instructions for installing the 2nd generation was helpful for removing them. You have to dissasemble the caster and remove the wheel (use 10mm wrenches) in order to get a 9/16 wrench on the bolt which is screwed into a mounting bracket. The top screw which I removed initially is only there as a "lock nut". With the old (2nd gen) caster removed, installing the new orange casters was easy. You do not have to remove the wheels. A 9/16 flat wrench will fit fine with the wheels on. Screw the bolt into the mounting bracket and secure with the lock nut using a 9/16 socket. Hope this helps.

Very helpful. Orange wheels shipped with no instructions much less obsolete ones.
