Standard backyard Kingman, do I need to cover up for the winter? I had a cover for my Cheyenne so it was always covered when not in use. No cover available for the Kingman, guess I could use a tarp, but is that even necessary? Should I do anything to protect the Thermos, or are they fine in the snow/ice?

Personally, I would cover it. As you already know, you will always have some maintenance, but letting it sit uncovered might be a recipe for more. The thermometers are sealed, but ice/water has a way of getting in places that it shouldn't, so if you are not going to cover the cooker, I would cover the thermometers.

Do you recommend if you are not going to use the smoker during winter to take the thermometers off (unscrew them) and store inside? Or just a cover will be ok? Thanks.

I would suggest removing them to store inside to make sure that they do not take on moisture.

I would also cover or plug the holes left from removing the thermometers.
