i know red oak and white oak is a good cooking wood my question is can you cook with water oak

Sounds like it's just a different species of red oak to me. I love red oak and I've used a lot of it, but I can't say for sure if I have used water oak or not because it can be mixed up with other red oaks. My guess is use it, but hopefully someone more knowledgable comes along that has used water oak specifically.

If you Google it, some say it's OK to use and some say it isn't.
