Proud owner of a new YS640 competition cooker with all the fixin's. I've watched about 2 or 3 million videos online on just about every Yoder tricks and tips out there. I've been grilling for a long time but never known anyone with a smoker like this. I have a question about the heat deflector with the access door. If you are going to crank the grill up and so some direct grilling over the grill grates, do you need to take out the deflector plate or do you just take out the door? I had seem some video where they mentioned you could warp / damage the deflector plate at high temps. Also what is the max temp on these pellet grills?

Appreciate the advice.....Big Tex

Welcome aboard!

No issues with the 2 piece diffuser, not the new reinforced standard diffuser, and high temperatures.

The YS640 has a temperature range from 150 to 600 degrees.
