Got my new Yoder Cheyenne about three weeks ago and did my first port butt on Sunday. Fire management was a bit of a challenge, but I learned a lot and the butt turned out great.

Glad I found this site. A lot of useful information that helped with the first cook.

Keep up the good work!

Herb: I did view your video before my first cook and it helped a lot. I never thought of warming up my sticks, but that seems to be a key.

I think my biggest fault was that I let my charcoal bed get too small and that caused the temperature to dip a bit. Once I added some charcoal and got things heated back up, all went pretty well. I also had the out take at about half and I think I'll try it more open.

All in all, thought, the pork butt was really, really good and I spent an enjoyable day cooking.

Thanks for your help and thanks for this forum. It's full of great info.
