Sick YS640

Went my smoker yesterday and and plugged it in, cleaned the burn box, put a hand full of pellets in, buttoned it up and hit START.
after the U26 code and the default temp of 350 popped up, i decreased the temp to 300. It immediately went into the COOL DOWN mode with the bars scrawling from the upper left moving down to the lower right. I watched for the next 45 minutes and the controller never told it to go to the HEAT UP mode. Help !!!

The thermocoiuple has been damaged or has failed and should be replaced.
