You made a good purchase, I have the same.

I'd recommend buying a builders vacuum to help cleaning the burnt ash.

I jetwash the plate and handle it with washable gloves or paper towel as I found using my regular leather charcoal gloves causes them to mould.

I now try to dishwasher the grills while they are still warm.

Don't forget the bloody bucket under the drain! I've forgotten a couple of times.

Good luck...

Dishwasher chrome grills is a bad thing.... Chemicals in dishwasher soap causes graying on the grates.

I thought they were stainless steel which I don't mind dishwashing and it's a lot easier than my old cast iron stuff. I also jet wash the grills and havn't noticed any whitening yet.

What are you doing to keep them clean.

I give them a good hard rub with a stainless scrub pad while still warm after the cool down period. Gets the gunk off the top. When I do wash them, I put them in a tub in my back yard with hot water and Dawn soap. Let sit for a day them use a brush etc to scrub them. I don't do this every time, nor do I keep my 640 spotlessly clean. It's a smoker. Used to do that in the first year or so, but no need keep it clean like the kitchen counter.

Pretty good!

There are folks like that clean the smoker with a toothbrush I'm sure

Meh, I did a bunch of chickens 3 weeks ago, all I did was clean the grates with the stainless pad, closed the lid, and put the cover on once fully cooled.
