What's the best practice with a pellet cooker? I assume under a covered patio and a dryer vent hose (or simalar) to vent the smoke out from under the patio?

Other ideas?

I plan to cook a brisket (first one!) this Saturday but there is a 70% chance of light rain so I'm looking for ideas!

Thanks!

The issue with the cooker in the rain is not necessarily the cooker itself, but rather the electricity and the potential of lightening.

Just like any other device that uses electricity, rain or water is a safety hazard. The secondary part is that you have a 350 +/- pound mass of metal tied to earth ground through the power cord, which can be a perfect lightening rod.

I leave my partially in the garage and use a piece of dryer vent tube to vent it outside.

Does using dryer vent tube adversely affect the 'draw' of the smoker?

If you are asking about offset smokers, yes it affects the draw.

If you are asking about Yoder pellet cookers, adding length to the chimney shouldn't be a problem.
