This might be a silly question but I wanted to verify as I can't find the answer from other posts. My other pellet smoker needed to be primed with pellets on the initial start up or if you fully cleaned out the burn pot. I was used to doing this and have, for the first few cooks on the YS 640S, primed the pot. The manual says to clean the pot before every cook and thankfully it's very easy with that deflector cut out. Once it's clean though I'll take a small handful of pellets and put it over the igniter but then it moves extra pellets pretty much immediately on startup. I've had some issues with the temps overshooting by 100-150 degrees from the set point and I'm wondering if it's because it's primed when it's not programmed to be.

So, is it necessary or recommended to "pre-prime" the burn pot before turning on the smoker?
