New Ys640 but not new to smoking / grilling. In all my research, I have found countless resources that explain how to touch up rust on the outside but not much on how to help minimize it from starting. I already have the cover and the grease shield.

I'm curious if anyone has some real world feedback of doing any regular coating / seasoning the outside to help reduce rust from starting.

Do you apply anything to the outside? If so, what?

What is your process?

Hi. I don't do anything special. I only have rust on the chimney but that is easy to take off and coat with high temp black paint. It's good as new.

I am close to pulling the trigger on a YS640S. I have seen a recommendation for ACH 50 Spray to help with rust prevention. Has anyone used this with success? The smoker will be in North East Florida about 20 miles from the Ocean as the crow flies. The only reason I have not purchased this yet is because of my rust fear.

I too saw this. I purchased it and applied to the outside of my new 640.....
