I purchased the 2 piece diffuser and ever since I've had some pretty big temperature differences from the front to the back of the smoker. My temps were pretty even before. Has anyone else had an issue using the 2 piece with the grill grates? Any suggestions for adjustments to get more even cooking? Thanks.

If I use my grill grates the door doesn’t close completely. I have read people shaving the inside of the door or grates but I never have. If you use the grill grates with the two piece trap door removed I’ve found it best to leave it at 400. I don’t use the grill grates without removing the door but some do.

You have to remove the regular grates before using the grill grates. It they still cause an issue the door flange on the lower part of the door is wrong or the grillgrates are too long.

My grillgrates fit fine. I don't took the standard grates out and usually don't have the upper level in. The temperature differences have been with the trap door in place and sub 400 temps.
