My YS640 is currently in an outbuilding and I'm finding it doesn't take long to fill the building with smoke. I'm currently opening the building doors to evacuate the smoke, but I'm looking for a better way to vent. Any suggestions on type of vent piping to use and is there a length at which it would hamper the proper drafting of the smoker?

Hi! I had issues with my 640 on the porch putting a nice patina colored stain on the top of the porch. Wife unit wasn't happy. I bought a standard alum stretch expandable dryer vent tube about 6" in diameter and put it over the smokestack, extending the flexible tube about 8' to exhaust over the roof line.

Been using it almost 3 years now. Seems to cause no issues. Since the bottom is open to more air since the smokestack is 4" or so I think that it flows just fine. My tube is removed after cooks and stored on the patio. I just grab it, put it on and I'm good.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

[attachment=0]0315171058.jpgThis is how I solved the problem with my 640 on the porch. At the moment the stove pipe is not attached because I had the cover on it. Have been using it for 2 years this way with no problem.
