Rust ... already!?

I love my new Durango, but I've only had it for maybe 2 months, and it's already starting to show signs of rust. I followed the written instructions and gave the internal and external surfaces a good coat of oil. I'm in the SF Bay Area (but more than 20 miles from the ocean and salt air) and we don't get a ton of rain, in fact we're in a drought. This time of year we do get some over night dew, but it burns off by mid afternoon. Because there are no covers for this thing, I can only imagine it will get worse with the rains that we do get.

What to do, what to do? I'm assuming that I'll have to take some steel wool to it, and then use some high temperature, flat black paint. But should I really have to do all this, after just 2 months of Summer-ish/Fall-ish weather? What's it going to look like after a Northern California winter?
