Diners, Drive-ins and Dives featured Iowa's Smokey D's restaurant last week sometime. They put a rub on some wings, smoked them for 1.5 hours, fried them for 2 to 3 minutes, then tossed'em in a wing sauce. This may have to be my next smoke. Has anyone tried this before?

This is my preferred way of doing wings. I will cook at a lower temp around 200 for 2 hours and then flash fry them to finish the cook. Even without sauce they are great but I will toss them in BBQ or wing sauce.

I watched that episode, coated wings in Franks/Butter, cooked for close to 2 hours, quickly fried, then re-sauced... Were absolutely horrible... Couldn't eat another one after the first dozen.
