After much planning, many test cooks, and a yearlong count down, our first official event came and went. Only due to the support of my family, the online bbq community, and awesome Yoder products can we consider it a great success. With a special thank you to the Yoder Nation for insight and tips along the way and to Sam’s NW BBQ in Sherwood Or. for great customer service and advice. Everywhere I take my Durango 24 it gets lots of attention (most often being misidentified as other brand names). I take every opportunity to introduce folks to the Yoder name and make sure they know where we got it.

This was the first of 4 home games where we will be tailgating during WOU football games to support the Western Oregon Cheerleaders. Allowing us to hangout with fellow cheer families, make new friends in the WOU community and bring attention to a growing program.

First the butts, rubbed and put on for a 10 hour cook. About half way through I panned them and put on the ribs and rib tips.

And we must not forget the beans. Put on later to catch some smoke and some of the drippings from the ribs.

Everything prepped, cooked and staged, ready for the finishing touches.

The Wolves won in dramatic fashion and the cheerleader performance was outstanding.

Great food and fun was enjoyed by all. A small group that is sure to grow as things catch on.

Thank you for looking.

You're an excellent "gater" already! I tailgate at the NAU (Northern Arizona) games. Got one tomorrow! What a blast!

Go Yoder!

Go Lumberjacks!

Thanks! We needed it. Pulled out a 38-35 win over Cal Poly with 21 seconds left. What a game! Standing room only in the Skydome!

How'd WO do?

ah, WOU Football? Didn't do so good. It was an away game and they got beat up pretty good by Humboldt State 16-34. It was a non-divisional game fortunately.

BTW, Humboldt State are the Jacks, as in Lumberjacks coincidentally. ;)

Good thing they're not in the same conference. Go Jacks!

Supporting struggling teams is one of the strongest influences when it comes time make the tailgating spot payment decision.

Which is?

Always, heck yeah! Sign me up!

Always support your student-athletes. Always go in with a smile on your face! Tailgate!

You can Q. You can bring beer. And park right next to the stadium for half time beers!

I precook most everything on the YS640 at home, and then just reheat/crisp it up on my Weber Q220 in the parking lot!

Yeah we are pretty much doing the same thing. The tailgate area doesn't open until 10:00 for a 1:00 game. So all the long cook stuff is done on Friday. I can do some short cook items during the game, but its pretty much heat and serve for pulled pork, shredded beef, etc. In the future we'll do some try tip, wings, reverse sear burgers, etc, live during the event.
