Herb,

Just curious for the 640 units that run U26 firmware, will there be any new updates or is it considered final?

I think U28 may be only for spring 2015 YS640s and later. I bought mine in January and it has U26, but it has the old-style probe location. Hoping one of the Yoder gods will tell us. :)

YS640 cookers that have the thermocouple on the lower left back wall are current at U26 firmware.

YS640 cookers that have the thermocouple on the upper hopper wall, just under the top grate, are at U29 firmware. Any cookers with U27 or U28 need to be updated to U29.

Can you elaborate on the differences between U28 and U29? Also, how do I get the tool to perform the upgrade? I'm new to Yoder.

Anyone with U27 or U28 needs to update their cookers firmware to U29. U29 resolves temperature differences in the cooker.

Here are where Technical Service Bulletins are posted: viewtopic.php?f=58&t=555 This is where you will find the TSB for U29. When reading the TSB, there is a link to the request document that you need to fill out and FAX back to us for the update.

Here are the instructions for performing the update: viewtopic.php?f=62&t=397

Here are all the service documents: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=141

Hi everyone, i am new here and want to learn about the system you people are discussing here.
Can you please tell me the details of the 640 and U28?
What are their hardware specifications and what interfaces they require?

Not really sure what you are asking. The YS640 has changeable firmware code, based on specific thermocouple placement. The YS640 cookers with the thermocouple on the lower back wall utilize U26 firmware and the newer cookers with the thermocouple on the upper hopper wall utilize U29 firmware.
