Any thoughts on keeping a "very" light coating of cooking oil on the outside to keep it looking new and rust free?

This is a personal choice for you to make. No issues with doing it, other than fixing scratches in the paint.

I probably wouldn't mess with it. Seems like it would attract dust, but I have no personal experience.

I oil the outside of my Loaded Wichita about 4 times a year, I do the fire box even more. I just wanna make sure it will last for many generations.
