I just got my upgrades for my 640 (built in 2011). New second fan and housing, new hopper fan with diffuser, new heat diffuser, new burn pot grate, programmer, and a new chimney (why I got a new chimney I don't know) Program update. Heat shield, and fan mounted on hopper end wall installation went great. Fire box insert will not fit (probably an 8th inch from fitting nicely) as well as the second fan housing. The Second fan housing is too tall and hits the auger motor (Frustration beyond belief) Is there a work around on this. Please let me know

The auger motor will be very close to the top of the fan tunnel. Take the screws loose from each side of the auger assembly, put the fan tunnel in and then tighten the auger assembly screws.

Let us know how it goes.

BTW, the new chimney is to eliminate the chimney damper on the old chimney.

Yoder_Herb thank you for the work around on the second fan install. Totally worked. Two things, should I grind my fire pit tray to fit? Also it would be nice if the update directions included the info you gave. If they do start to include that work around, make sure they tell you to be sure the hopper is empty when you pull the auger. I missed that step and had a cascade of pellets. No big deal on that part, kinda laughed about my "duh" moment and went about the install. Anyways thank you again for the advice and heres to the learning curve all over WaaaaaaWhooo.

It goes in the fire box. Has a bunch of holes in it. The thing you had to step on before they reinforced it.

It should fit without grinding.

I know it should, however it doesn't. That was the reason for my question. I want to thank you for all your help thus far. Just a bad fit on this one thing I guess.

It would help greatly if you could post up some pictures to show how it looks in the firebox, and where you feel it needs to be ground down to fit. We haven't had a problem of a reinforced grate not fitting, so to help, I need to see what you are seeing.
