...I want to make sure I get the initial burn off and seasoning procedure correct. To be honest, I'm a newbie and the manual has me somewhat confused.

First it says to assemble everything including installing the diffuser plate, burn grate, cooking grates, etc.

Then it says to check out page 15 for the setup instructions.

At page 15 it tells me to take everything out again. LOL.

But wait, back on page 8 there's an initial burn off section that tells me to visit page 18.

On page 18 it gives the startup procedure; part of which is to load the hopper with pellets but....then place a handful of pellets on the burn grate - which is only necessary when the unit is first put into service or it runs out of pellets.

At this point I'm thinking I just need to:

Load the hopper with pellets
Place a handful on the burn grate
Power on and press the Start pad
Wait until the default temp of 350deg is reached then let sit for an hour.
Switch off and wait for cool down
Season according to Herb's post in another thread

Is that about right?

Tnx

Great, thanks. I felt like a bit of an idiot asking but better safe than sorry.

Going to be brisket with a Texas rub - which is to say salt and pepper. Hah!
