My power just went out in the middle of a cook. I was wondering what the restart procedure would be after it comes back on?
Just a normal startup?

Yes, just a normal startup. If the fire is still burning, unplug the power, flip the power stitch to OFF, plug the power back in, flip the power switch to the ON position, hit START and set your temperature.

If the fire is out, attempt the same procedure as above. Depending on the set temperature when the cooker went out, there may be excessive ash in the burn grate because the fans were not blowing it out as the pellets burned. If the cooker doesn't light, make sure to remove everything that is in the cooker, the grates and the heat diffuser (be careful if things are still hot, don't burn yourself). Clean out the burn grate. Put everything back in place and start the cooker.

Regarding the above procedure...if the power only goes out for a couple mins and the fire is still going fine is there a way to prevent it from filling the burn pot for 30 seconds when you press START so that the temp doesn't spike?

No, but the spike will come in line very quickly. Nothing to worry about at all. Give the controller 15 or so minutes and all will be in order again.
