I'm considering purchasing the YS1500. I've been an owner of the YS640 for over a year and I love it. However, I'm planning on getting back into bbq competitions and I need a smoker with more capacity. Ideally I'd like to be able to do 2 briskets and 3-4 pork butts on the same cooker. Will the YS1500 be able to handle that much meat?

The YS1500 should handle that and more, I have had your suggested meat load in a YS640.

Yoder_Herb, I know that I'm replying to an OLD OLD post but it's related to something I'm working on right now so hopefully you guys can help me. How many briskets have you (or anyone) cooked at one time on a YS1500 at once? I'm looking at cooking 15-16lb briskets and am guessing that it might fit 6 (7) with some creative placement. but I'm worried about heat flow and smoke being able to reach all the meat evenly. I'd be in hog heaven if you told me that it can cook 8 at once, that would solve a huge problem, ha! (It's for a large cook I'm doing).
