I just put in my order with my dealer for a YS1500 after reading a few of the posts on here. While I wait for it to be delivered I was reading through the user manual. It said for direct cooking it only needed 10-15 minutes to warm up. If I am going to grill on the 1500 am I supposed to completely remove the HMS plate or just open up the door over the firebox to full? Is there a difference in setup between direct grilling vs. a quick reverse sear? (Meaning one would require taking HMS plate out and the other just opening the door). I am looking forward to cooking on this but can use all the help/info possible.

So there any risk of warping the HMS plates if left in but using the grill at a high temperature?

Thanks.

If you are grilling with the optional grill grates, yes, the HMS plate on the left needs to be removed.

if your just gonna grill a steak or two or three :) pluss some veggies, its enought space just to open the "hatch" a little easier than removing the managment plate. this will give you a very good heat for roughly 50% of the left hand side of the grill
