I guess I am a bit confused reading through posts......Can you leave the diffuser in on temps above 400 degrees?

I read several posts by Herb, one where he stated to remove the diffuser at any temp above 400 degrees and then a post where he flipped the grill grates over and stated he does not remove the diffuser or opens the door on the two piece when searing.

If you can leave the diffuser in during temps higher than 400, what advantage does a two piece diffuser give you, other than easy access to clean out the burn pot?

I believe I already answered your question on your other post. There are more reasons to have the 2 piece diffuser than just grilling.
