Love the YS640, cooks great. One small issue is that grease/fat that works it way down the heat diffuser and then on to the damper rod and leaks out on the the ground. Not much as most ends up in the bucket.

Any way to divert the grease or keep it from leaking at the damper handle hole?

Next clean I might try putting some foil over the damper rod or tent it to divert the falling grease.
Cooking a pork shoulder today, might try the foil before I start the cook.

Have you leveled the cooker? The cooking grates inside the cooker should be level from front to back and side to side.

Mine has done the same thing. I’ll check to see if it’s level when it gets warmer but I have mine sitting on the deck.

I've been through the leveling "check". I've had a YS480 and YS640 and both have had the similar results. I've tried leveled and a slight tip up on the right side. I think the air forces moisture through that crack no matter what.

I'm stepping on "Yoder Toes" here, but from my experience, I prefer to lay a pair of tongs down on some layered paper towels (to catch the drippings) versus sealing the crack with silicone. I love the option to flip the stack down, so that's a price we pay I guess.

Had my ys640s for a just over a year and I'm getting same issues. Had a pool of grease all over the floor near the smoker. Anyone find a solution to this problem or how to fix it? Only thing I came up with was to get a BBQ mat so the Stem concrete in my backyard doesn't get damaged more.
