My YS640 is on its way and I want to be ready to grill the moment I receive it. I will need a 10ft extension cord. Any suggestions on a specific one to buy or a gauge I should get?

12 will be enough. It's about 5 amps. And only on for 5 min as the pellets start burning.

12 gauge is perfect. The important issue is to insure it is an outside cord, and to protect the cord junction from water.
