What would happen if the internal fan stopped working?

Worst case, if the fire ignites, burn back into the auger and hopper. Do you have a specific issue or reason that you have encountered that prompted your question?

The flame in the pot would be less. You can see it with a flashlight. Look at it when off, and then on you will see the difference.

I know! Lets ask a Yoder person to try it! "Here hold my beer, watch this!"

I'm cooking at 275 and i'm watching the temps go up and down, goes to 230 then right back up again over and over. It's about 40 degrees out and I did try a different pellet. Lumberjack 100% hickory. The fan was whining when I started it but couldn't hear that well because my son was leaf blowing. I asked because I already had to replace my outside fan.

Ohh that 40f ain't helping matters. Have to bought a cheap welding and moving blanket and use those as insulation? Works great, bet you see less temp swings.

The fan whines when starting with cold temps. The cold weather makes the clearances for the bushings/bearings too big and once it warms up it quiets down and runs normally.

There are probably better fans that would be more tolerant of the temperature swings but this one hasn't got worse over the last 3 years so maybe it will be fine for another 10
