What is the point of the YS640 chimney rotate? Is there advantages to different positions? Does it keep more smoke in?

It allows the fitted cover to fit correctly. Here is the video showing the cover being installed: viewtopic.php?f=62&t=359f

Has anyone tried rotating it down to try to trap more smoke in?

The position of the chimney will not matter, because of the positive airflow designed into the cooker.
