has anyone nailed a good location for a external temperature probe? I love the stability of my Yoder, but sometimes I want to monitor remotely.

I want Tappecue pit probe to match displayed grate temp. (+/- 5)

Hey Sammy!

As you already know, the probe placement needs to be directly in contact with the grate surface, and in the 640 it needs to be 11" from the hopper wall, centered front to back, and 14" from the hopper wall, centered front to back in the 1500, to be able to approximately match what the display is showing. But having a probe where it needs to be, puts a stop to cooking almost anything of substance, and, the probe will be effected from anything placed close to it.

Sorry, wish I had the perfect answer for you.

Yoder, there is no perfect answer. Except for owning a Yoder or two.
