I just received the New Style Probe port assembly. I would like to know the best way to drill/punch the 1 1/8" hole Will a step drill work? Is the steel too thick for a knockout punch?

I used a Step Drill I purchased from Amazon for around $10.00. Using some dark thread cutting oil on the drill I was able to make a perfect enlargement of the original probe port hole on the right side with no problems at all.
