Any one else having trouble with paint flaking? I'm scrubbed with steel wool, painted and repainted....this is only one year old!

I've had a few spots like this, but haven't tried to clean them up yet. I will before it gets cold this year. Did you get your paint the first time around from Yoder? They will send you some, I've heard. I'm calling them this week to get some.
Yes, I have used the paint they sent. Frustrating. It is covered too. I'm noticing lots of rust around the screws as well.
Steel wool may not be aggressive enough to remove the rust or problem areas. Use some automotive body sandpaper, and gently sand out the imperfections, making sure to "feather" the edges so that when you paint it, it blends in. After sanding, and before painting, clean and degrease the area so that there are no dust or oil/grease that will interfere with the paint adhering to the surface. You cooker is made of steel, and will need periodic maintenance. The paint that is used is a high temperature silicone based paint.
Paint is available in large spray cans directly from Yoder for $14.99 plus shipping.
Have also tried the sandpaper. I'm really surprised to see this problem in this amount, especially in an area that doesn't have much rain and for a smoker that is covered. I used the paint you guys provided.
I just noticed a good bit of paint flaking and some light rust on my 640 near the bottom front of the unit, Time to do some cleaning and painting...
Flaking is out of control!!! This is a warranty issue and must be addressed. I should not be doing your warranty repair.

You can take it to bare metal and beyond...but if things arent cleaned afterword and kept clean and uncontaminated before the paint is applied you will run into problems.
I'm not saying you didnt do that...but if everything was clean and uncontaminated before the paint was applied there wouldt be an issue unless you had a bad can of paint or something...

You are correct. I am not a Yoder employee and am only as familiar with the situation as you have chosen to make us.

I was merely clarifying that your response did not deal with or resolve the apparent problem
If you do not want any public input perhaps you should take this up with Yoder privately?

A Yoder employee clarified for me that the post to which you are referring was in reference to the time before it left their shop for delivery and not any touch-up I did. Joey at Yoder has been very good in his response(s) toward rectifying what they have acknowledged is a clear problem with my unit.
