Smoke in firebox

I ran 12hrs yesterday on a brisket.... it was amazing.

Towards the end my hopper was pretty empty and I could see smoke coming from the hopper. I moved the pellets around and nothing felt abnormally hot. It appeared the smoke was just backflowing through the hopper? Is that possible?

Please advise.

Not normally. Check the fitment of the burn grate and the integrity of the silicone seals.

Also, check that your chimney is not obstructed, as it may need cleaning.

Reminds me, time for YS640 major clean and window cleaning. Time to ask my neighbor to borrow the power washer with soap attachment. And yea, maybe the chimney too

I use low power to clean the Yoder for sure, paying close attention to not wash any silicon seal down the drain, hehe. Works pretty good. I block off the fire pot and auger AFTER emptying the auger 110%.
