Good morning all after doing several cook on my 1500 I am finding that to maintain a grate temp of 225 the controller needs to be set at 275-280 in fact whatever you want the grate temp the controller needs to be 50 degree higher.the temps across the grill are very good I have been taking the grate temp just left of the centre bottom grate and probe was on the grate .Sorry if this is a repeat thread but I have read some threads with same problem but not clear on wat action to take

What is the serial number and build date from the door plate?

Where did you purchase the cooker?

I would request that you send me the following picture:

Remove the burn grate from the firebox. Take a picture from inside the firebox, looking back at the opening into the fan tunnel (above the igniter tube), to get a picture of the internal fan and it's label. Please forward the picture to customerservice@yodersmokers.com

Would you please to this test and forward the results to customerservice@yodersmokers.com download/Best%20Practice%20and%20how%20to/Yoder%20Pellet%20Temperature%20Test.pdf Make sure to follow the directions exactly, with the probes lying directly on the grate. If you had food in the cooker, the probes must be a minimum of 6" from anything that is cooking. The cooker should be empty when testing to get the proper results and data.

Here is how we do the process at the factory: download/Stuff/ys640%20temp%20profile%20U29.pdf For the YS1500, the probe placement is at 14" and 28" as shown in this picture

Gents, do you mind if I ask what the resolution and solution was here? I have a ys640, and my controller temp is solid at displaying about 70 degrees above the actual grate temps. I'm not overly concerned, as I use internal probes (through probe port, not door) ....but it would be nice to know why it's behaving this way.

The grate temps are very good, and within 15 degrees throughout the chamber after warmed up and stabilized.

In my cooker:
No foil is used.
Burn pot and box vacuumed every cook.
Serial number 24054
Build 04-22-16
U26 firmware.
Use a Yoder thermal jacket

Thank you.
