Why did you go from a YS640 to a YS1500?

Here's mine. Just landed two days ago. Nucornhusker played a big part in my purchase thanks to his stellar reviews and excellent reporting.

I sold my YS640 a month ago and today finally had some "bones" to eat. More pics and my thoughts later this week.

For a few reasons. At the time that I owned my YS640 I had somewhere around 8 cookers. Many of the cookers weren't the highest quality (starter pits) and I didn't use most of them anymore. I used my YS640 and my KJ Classic 95+% of the time. So my thought was to do a big clean-up sale and sell everything except for my small, portable charcoal grill. I figured if I'm only using those two cookers, why not clear space and upgrade at the same time.

As a side note, when I bought my YS640 is was really torn between getting the 640 or the YS1320. I ultimately decided on the YS640 and absolutely loved it! However, I still wondered "What if?" a little bit just because I was so torn at the time of purchase. If I would have ordered my first Yoder a day earlier, I would have chose the YS1320.

So I sold the YS640 and all of the others and bought my YS1500 and KJ BigJoe. I received the shipment of both on the same day and those are still the only two I use today. I will say that I did use my YS640 more often and for more types of foods than I do with my YS1500, due to convenience with my own home's setup. My YS640 was on my deck right next to the other cookers, so it got fired up more often. My YS1500 lives in the garage and it is a little more work to move a car, pull it out, cook, wait to cool, place back in the garage and pull the car back in, than it is to uncover, cook, cover. From that aspect I do miss the YS640 sometimes and I may buy one again someday, but a Yoder stickburner comes first. :D I really love the process of stickburning and I do miss it when I have the time to do it. But owning a pellet pit has allowed me to cook many, MANY times when I couldn't with the stickburner (mostly due to watching the kids and work schedules).

I don't regret my switch one bit as I absolutely LOVE my YS1500. I'm happy with my decision.
