The directions that came with my Wichita Loaded are not really specific on setting the heat management plate. Right now I am setting the large lip on the hot end to hook behind the lip on the firebox, and then pulling it snug. Is that the intended way to install this? Are you supposed to just lay it in and push it up tight? Or finally, do people alter the gap between firebox and plate to intentionally create temperature gradients?

Still learning!

Thanks,

The heat management plate should be installed so that the angled lip is in the firebox, and pulled to the chimney end of the cooker so that the lip is tight against the inside of the cooker body end of the firebox.
