Moving the Beast around

Was fortunate enough to get a Wichita for Xmas and have it set up in the driveway - roast lamb today!
Anyway...
It has the wheels on one end, and a loop of steel at the other to lift it up to wheel it in & out of storage, to keep it out of the elements when not in use.
My question is, is that loop of steel strong enough to support frequent movings (like every couple of days)? Or will the welds eventually fail?
One thing I did on my previous (cheap) unit was to use some 1x3s & u-bolts to make handles that attached to the legs (effectively levers) and that I could lift from, so as to not put stress on the cheap steel used to make the thing.
I was thinking of doing the same, but only if the attached steel handle will not do the job.
Any thoughts on whether it's a good idea or not?
