Log lighter questions

I currently have the YS640 which works great but also a non-Yoder stick burner that I would like to retrofit a log lighter to. Can the log lighter that Yoder uses on their pits be retrofitted to other stick pits? Also does the lighter stay in the firebox permanent or can it/should it be pulled out after lighting the fire? And if it stays in permanent, approximately how long will it last being subjected to the extreme hi heat and or should it be replaced like yearly or so? Can the Yoder log lighter be purchased separately as an accessory? Thanks in advance.

We are glad you are enjoying your YS640! We do sell the log lighter to user who do not own a Yoder Smokers. The way this typically would be used in your application is to open the fire box door and lay the log lighter on the bottom of the fire box. Use the log lighter assembly to get the fuel started and then remove it from the fire box. Used in this way the log lighter will give you several years of service. The log lighter assembly is 79.95, you can give us a call or email us @info@yodersmokers.com to place your order.
