I heard Joe Phillips was discussing some upcoming "tweaks" in a future production of offsets. Is that true, and can we hear more about what kind of tweaks he is talking about?

There seems to be some confusion. Herb said nothing will change, but Joe said tweaks are coming.

There are not any impending design changes needed. As the video clearly illustrates, the cooker works as designed.

We have heard our user base and will be making a few tweaks in the next production run of cookers.

I see a new post about some kind of damper change that is currently in testing. Is this the tweak that is supposed to be going into the next production run of smokers?

The weather was so nice today in Houston (34% humidity!) I couldn't help but throw a rack of spares on the Loaded Wichita, and I'm sitting in the shade sipping tea and admiring my smoker right now. I love the smell of an oak fire.

I'll bet your neighbors did, too. My neighbors always seem to gravitate my way when the smoke starts rolling.

This is the first photo I've seen of the intake mod on a new Cheyenne. The owner said it was working OK with kiln-dried wood:

The original door, as well as the new door, work almost exactly the same. During extensive testing, utilizing a properly sized, positioned and managed fire, there were no differences in how either door allowed the cooker to function, the quality of the thin blue smoke produced, nor were there any appreciable differences in fire management requirements or fuel consumption.

The side by side testing of the original and new doors showed no appreciable benefits from one to the other, as both performed virtually identically.

For reference, this is a picture of the size and placement of the fire in a Wichita firebox during testing, This allowed full control over the temperature in the cooker, only thin blue smoke being produced, with the firebox door closed and damper open approximately 50%. The cooker temperature ran 275 with ease. The wood utilized was https://www.atbbq.com/fuels/splitwood.html

Herb,

Thanks for the update. If there was not any difference in the two doors from a performance standpoint why was the change implemented? Or was it?
