Dual Temp Gauges on Cheyenne

I opted to have my Cheyenne's temp gauges mounted exactly how they are on the Witchita. How much of a difference in temp will that gauge be vs being down by the cooking grate? I'm just curious because it seems a lot cooler. I didn't know if anyone else has or has seen this problem.

The Yoder cookers cook from the bottom up, so the further away from the bottom, the more potential for cooler temperatures. Depending on how you have the cooker setup and what is cooking, upwards of 50 degrees is possible.

Thanks Herb. I guess I will use a probe clip for the bottom side opposite of the firebox to get a true reading. Why aren't both temp gauges on the bottom cooking surface? I guess the top one is for the second shelf, huh?
